SKOOLIE HISTORY
I am writing this for posterity. few people know this but i am the FOUNDING FATHER of the skoolie movement. indeed i coined the word skoolie.
i am sure some will say that there were skoolies before i did but there was no movement. the closest thing was the grateful dead.
it all began around 2000. i was finishing up my skoolie. there were no schoolbus conversion groups online. there was basicly only one bus conversion group period. that was BUSNUTS. was on microsoft. whenever anyone who was converting a schoolbus asked a question they got the same answer across the board. “ get yourself a REAL bus” .... NO ONE would even speak to anyone with a skoolie. they did so to protect their investments in their , mostly coaches , overdone/overpriced conversions. one time when they did that to me i had enough.
i went to the newest platform ( YAHOO was before google even existed) and started the FIRST INTERNET skoolie group. though i hadnt yet coined the name skoolie. the word schoolie was known. when i searched it all i found was porn sites about school girls. at the time i was smoking kools and looked at pack and it struck me SKOOLIES.
this was the first internet skoolie group. search as you might, you wont find an earlier skoolie group.

it quickly grew gaining approx 400 members on opening. I knew i was onto something.
i also thought i needed a better brand than schoolbusconversionuts. while casting about for a name i thought of schoolie which was the natural way to spell it, but when i googled it i came up with pornsites dedicated to catholic school girls.
while thinking on it, i was smoking KOOLS at the time. i happened to look down at cigarette pack and it struck me . SKOOLIE! so i immediately started a SKOOLIE group.
this was the very FIRST TIME the word SKOOLIE was in the internet lexicon.

funny thing is, SKOOLIE never took off. schoolbusconversionuts did though. but the WORD skoolie DID get immediate reception. thats how the word SKOOLIE was coined.
then yahoo lost everyones blogs so i quit yahoo completely after YEARS of helping to build it. last time i checked i had over 50,000 yahoo postings not to mention a couple dozen groups... people sued them.
i gave schoolbusconversionuts to the 2 most active members. it had 3700 members at that time. it was a fantastic HOW-TO library. so sad it was wasted.
then i started the FIRST facebook skoolie group!

along the way i have been directly responsible for helping others start skoolie groups. NET was the first. i helped them with name list etc to get started but had to part ways when they allowed SNOTS who didnt like my style to badmouth me on their group. but there were others. i indirectly started many groups by motivating SNOTS to do better than I.
so there you have it......
and here we are.
